Fire Safety Support Hub

Practical support for electricians working on fire alarm and emergency lighting systems, with guidance based around BS 5839-1 and BS 5266-1.

At ACE Fire Services, we help electrical contractors deliver compliant, well-documented fire safety work without the guesswork.

Electricians are often asked to install, alter or maintain fire alarm and emergency lighting systems, but these systems sit within specialist British Standards and fire safety legislation.

This page has been created to give electrical contractors access to practical guidance, useful checklists and evidence of our competency, so you can work with confidence and know when to bring in specialist support.

When should you involve a fire safety specialist?

You may want to involve us when:

  • A fire risk assessment specifies a category such as L1, L2, L3, L4, L5 or P systems.

  • The client needs design, installation, commissioning or handover certification.

  • The project includes sleeping risk, care premises, commercial units or complex escape routes.

  • You are unsure about detector spacing, sound levels, false alarm risk, emergency lighting coverage or documentation.

  • You want the work independently checked before handover.
